Pedestal of the Grey

A Great Grey Owl perched on a post/tree stump in Russborough House in Co Wicklow Ireland. This image was shot at the Birds of Prey Centre as these creatures are native to the Northern Hemisphere such as Finland, Canada, North America, Estonia and across Asia. A shallow depth of field image with a blurred background focuses you attention on this magnificent bird of prey. Sometimes called the Phantom of the North this owl is one of the largest species by length. The woodland brown bokeh textures compliment this fascinating owl with a mesmeric stare from the large rounded head with the grey face and yellow eyes with darker circles. The large talons are also on show and highlight the sheer size of this Owl. Such a majestic creature for an owl of this size.
